As a lot of our focus has shifted to warmer climates. Ocean City still has a lot to offer as the migration on big stripers has finally made it to our neck of the woods. Capt. Jason is still running and running hard.
Fishing is running and gunning, jigging and trolling, Chasing birds is one of the most exhilarating ways to target these brutes. A good run of fish in the 32 to 40+ inch range has set up shop. Capt Jason is running a 31fter for this run of fish.

The weather has cleared some and Boy O Boy is the fishing good. We’ve done overnighters this past weekend and that bite was great. Yesterday we were back at it on the day troll and it was insane, Capt John wore them ou, had there limit of nice yellowfin to 80lbs or so

Capt. John Reports:

That’s Right back in OC Md after a GREAT time in AC, NJ. Did a day trip today to the Poormans, great fishing some Marlins and some real nice Yellowfins. We were done by 11am with our limit of Yellowfins. Lots of single bites with a few doubles mixed in. All our bites today came on long riggers with a sea witch and a ballyhoo. Weather was great, little rain in the early part of the morining but cleared right up!

The weather finally smiled on us and we pulled the trigger on a special trip we have been trying to pull off over the past few weeks.
George Poveromo from World of Saltwater Fishing, Joined us again this year for an opportunity to shoot a White Marlin show.

As some of you have seen That’s Right did a wonderful shoot last year and they scored on some really nice Bluefin Tuna. This time around it was the White Marlin’s turn. Yesterday was a beautiful day on the water and the whites cooperated along with some nice gaffer Mahi. George caught and released 5 whites and got some excellent footage for an upcoming show on Versus.

It is always a pleasure to get out and fish with George, Capt. John Oughton is also scheduled to again partake in Georges Seminar series this winter. So if you plan on attending stop by and say hi.

We still have some open dates between now and mid Oct. for day and or overnight trips. The fishing is awesome right now so don’t miss out on this fantastic fall fishing.

White Marlin, Tuna, Mahi, Swordfish Overnighter, 9/13 to 9/14

Well, What can we say we had an absolute awesome Overnight trip. We steamed up to Cape May to pick up the Gang from RisingTideMedia/Sportfishermen.com. John Eppehimer, Timmy Hand and Mary Innman. Also joining us were Capt. Joe Trainor, Capt. Jason and our mate Joe Bonvetti.

We steamed north to the Lindekhol Canyon, about 5 miles from our starting point we found a weed line that stretched on for what looked to be miles. So out goes the gear and within minutes we got covered up with Mahi-Mahi and good size fish too. They ranged from 10 to 20lbs all caught on light tackle so it was a lot of fun. Once we got about 25 in the box.

We decided to head on out to the deep, so we put out the big guns and proceeded to troll. It became Game On shortly after that as Mary Inmann boated the first yellowfin of the day with the first fish on the troll into the ice he went. So everything went back to the troll just settled in out of no were something went slamming into a pink and black Islander. John E, was on the rod and we proceeded to watch a nice Blue Marlin go aerial for us and didn’t want to slow down. Unfortunately she came unbuttoned.

Following the Blue Timmy Hand ended his drought of not catching a white Marlin with a nice white putting on a wonderful display for us. We ended up with Joe, Jason and Joe B putting a few more tuna’s on ice before we set up in the deep for our night bite.
The Tuna bit funny through out the night with us icing up a handful more. Two Highlights of the night was our own Capt. Johny Oughton icing a nice 80+lb Allison and Joe Trainor also released a fiesty Swordfish late. The what ifs started after that as we would of had a Grand slam you don’t see that often if the Blue Marlin stayed on for a release.

We have plenty of dates between now and Oct 7th and the fishing has really heated up!!!!!!!!

Mahi-Mahi and Marlin Fishing Very Good on Thats Right OC Md

The weather has been a bit of an issue lately, thus keeping the That’s Right tied to the dock. Well when it has been nice to go the nice water that has moved in to the canyons has been full of life.

We have been finding some really great catches of Mahi Mahi up to 25lbs and plenty of White marlin action to report also. Pictures and audio reports are from Capt. John from a few trips hes taken this past week.

Capt John Reports:

Good fishing today, the week was pretty much a lose due to terrible weather. We enjoyed a perfect day, full of White marlin, and it seems the Mahi are here to stay for a while. We had several real nice ones up to 25 lb and plenty of heavy lifters. Not much to report on the Tunas, however there is lots of hope, as we are watching and waiting for a large piece of water to slide down just a little closer and it will be game on!!

That’s Right”… Finally the Dolphin seem to be here for the next several weeks. We spent the better part of our morning trolling and bailing some Dolphins. There was little to no current today so the fish were a little tough to get real aggressive, so we found ourselves having to catch several at once on the slow troll and at times were able to bail another 5 or 6. Great action and was a perfect day for weed line fishing!! We did see a few lazy White Marlin but again not real hungry, just lookers. We are going to take a look to the north tomorrow and hopefully we run into some Tunas, they are coming though just a little out of reach. Hopefully our timing is right and we land right on them in the AM!

Bucket Lists, And the Quest for a Royal Slam of Marlin

We all in one way or another have a bucket list. Things we want to accomplish before we “Check Out”
Thursday and Friday was a pair of Anglers who are on a quest for the ultimate accomplish in the pursuit of Marlin The Royal Slam. The Royal Slam is 9 species of Marlin found through out the world. Billfish Royal Slam (9): Atlantic and Pacific Sailfish, Atlantic and Pacific Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, White Marlin, Swordfish, and Spearfish. Pete is at the end of his quest needing a white and a Atlantic Blue Marlin, while Dr. Bahri is in the middle of his quest.

Unfortunatly working up to this trip, Hurricane Irene threatend wether this trip would take place and also once she was gone who knew what she would leave in her wake. Well what she left was a lot of cold water and not so promising prospects for Marlin.

Capt John Reports:
Well we got lucky today and found JUST what we needed. That’s Right had two gentlemen on the boat for thursday and Friday looking to complete there Bill fish list. Fishing with us in hopes to catch there Blue Marlin and there White Marlin. Well we got them there Whites and then some. Had a few Tunas and some real nice Gaffers up to 25 lb’s. We spent most of the day in 1000 fathoms which is where we encountered our Gaffers and some schoolies on a nice weed line, and sure enough there he was swim right up behind the boat chasing a 7lb Dolphin. Nice fish to better part of 600lb’s gave our plug a quick glace and off he went. We did try a live Dolphin for about 30 minutes but to no avail. Trolled our way back inside to 200 fathoms and we started to find more life and better condition, which was a little odd considering we were now in 67 to 70 degree water, but it was clean. So perhaps its going to take another day or two for the water to really settle in, right now it’s been hard to make sense of it.

That’s Right got back out wednesday and things are looking good. We weathered the storm well so watch out tuna. Marlin bite seemed to be towards the deep in the Poormans. We will be spending a few days searching for them this week. If your heading out there is some debris so be careful

Capt. John Reports:
Was great to be back on the water, 5 days off just about killed me!! I dont like being on land very much,lol. Anyhow great day 10 tunas and one fat wahoo. All troll bites, green water and 67 degrees, little bait here and there. The fish picked most of the day, had several short bites and almost all our bites came on bait, ballyhoos only, we had two spreader bar bites.
We will be marlin fishing the next two days so hopefully we can find them to, the guys struggled with finding them today but a few were found.. thanks

Hurricane Irene is Gone: Back to Fishing Soon 08/28/2011

Tom Lagattuta fished with us prior to Hurricane Irene’s arrival. They had a great day with a mixed bag offshore, but the highlight had to be the beautiful Blue Marlin they caught and released. Tom sent us these two action shots they caught.

September can be red hot fishing in the Northeast. A storm like the one that just pushed through can really turn the fish on.
We have plenty of room on our open boat overnighters and there are still a few days available for charters if you want the whole boat.
Please give us a call or drop us an email. We are looking to finish a strong season in Ocean City Md, We have done exceptionally well this yaer and truly have been blessed.

Big Eye Tuna On the That’s Right

Seems the Big Eye’s are on the prowl and we have gotten in on the action. Big Eye tuna are the back alley bullies of the Ocean. When you do battle with them you know your in a fight.

Captain John Reports:

Fished Offshore today and had plenty of quality Big Eye bites. Came home with an Eyeball and lost another at side of boat, damn. We had 6 bites out of them today, two triples, pulled two off on the spreader bar and pulled the hooks on another, just some bad luck with some mean nasty fish. We also had a few Doplhins.

Water has been changing a lot as of late, making it tough to stay on any sort of a good bite, however some Pilot whales showed up once again so perhaps we might get some more showings from the Tunas over the next few days.
